'The Neon Dead' DVD Review

Allison Hillstead (Marie Baker) is a recent college grad and has inherited a fairly large home. As she gets all moved in and starts to feel at home some strange things begin to happen. All the paranormal activity is something that is definitely out of Allison's hands and she needs help. She hears about two men who claim to be paranormal investigators and has them come out to the house to take a look. Desmond (Greg Garrison) and Jake (Dylan Schettina) are really just a couple of guys that could be more slackers than paranormal investigators. As soon as the guys show up at the house they come into contact with an entity that they really can't seem to come up with what it actually is. They call it a zombie but its not really?

The men actually learn that the force behind all the evil is a long dead relative that is controlled by an evil demon. What the men had to learn is that once they killed off the first demon there actually is a whole army of the creatures intent on the possession of each and every human they come in contact with. One of the good points of the movie are the creatures themselves. They are neon in design and when they are on the screen it adds a bunch to the movie. The visual effects are out of this world and the horror is pretty cool too.

Wild Eye Releasing brings us this horror show to DVD on September 13th, 2016. The quality is excellent and the sights and sounds are truly exquisite. This is an interesting look at horror and at first you want to say goodnight but the movie keeps you interested and the ending is great. This is one of those films that you will want to add to your DVD personal library. So take the time to pick up a copy and see who is actually tormenting Allison in this wonderfully old home that she recently inherited. It's funny to find out if Desmond and Jake are actually paranormal investigators or just a couple goons claiming to be. Enjoy.

'Suspects, Series 3 & 4' DVD Review

This show is not your ordinary crime drama. What makes this show so special is the way it's put together. The actors use a unique approach in that they have an improvised dialogue. That's right they are not necessarily using a script, and it makes for one interesting TV crime drama.

DI Martha Bellamy (Fay Ripley), DS Jack Weston (Damien Molony), and DC Charlie Steele (Claire-Hope Ashitey) pull it altogether for each episode and you would never know that they are not using a script. This show looks at how these three detectives approach a case and the mystery behind it when they are trying to solve the crime. It also looks at how the detectives get along with each other. It brings a personal touch to the every day workings of solving a crime.

One of the episodes of series 3 and 4 is an arson case that has a teenager fighting for his life. The squad also has to figure out a case involving a possible serial killer. One of the better episodes is about a gay teacher  who knows of the principal and a student having an affair. The problem comes when the gay teacher comes up dead. Another good one is when a girl comes up missing and her father is considered the main suspect. It seems he was seen fighting with his daughters trans sexual boyfriend. Yes, you could say this modern day crime drama is one in a million.

Acorn brings this fantastic show to DVD on September 13th, 2016, just in time for the weekend, and you are going to want to pick it up and enjoy the pleasure of watching something fresh and innovating. The quality of the DVD is excellent and the sights and sounds are right on. This is definitely going to be one show you will want to add to that personal library. This is quality work and you will want to watch it time and time again. Enjoy.

'Foyle's War Revisited' DVD Review

For eight seasons, John Mahoney played Detective Chief Superintendent Christopher Foyle. WWII was taking place all over the world but crime did not take a holiday at home. Criminals wanted to get their hands into anything that could make a buck. The black market and profiteering were probably the biggest problems but you had the odd murder that took place from time to time. Foyle was an honest cop and literally was fighting his own war as his son a fighter pilot fought his.

This show had a down home appeal to it and with the war as its backdrop made for a very good show. As the run of 'Foyle's War' was coming to an end a documentary was put together that brought everything to nice conclusion. You will see just how the show was put together. You are going to see highlights of shows past and you will see the stars as they were getting ready for their scenes.
Revisited will have interviews with John Mahoney, Michael Kitchen, Honeysuckle Weeks, Anthony Howell, and Daniel Weyman. The actors will talk of their time on the show and how it has changed their lives.

Acorn brings 'Foyle's War Revisited' to DVD on September 6, 2016. The DVD is pure quality and the sights and sounds are excellent. This is certainly a must for all you fans of Foyle's War. It is such a nice way to look back on all the episodes that has been made over the years. Foyle's War started off during the war but would eventually grow to incorporate the Cold War that soon followed.

Foyle as I said was an honest policeman and the show had a charm all to itself. If you have missed this classic show you are able to pick up all 28 episodes on DVD. So if Revisited sparks your interests then by all means get on out and see the whole series. You will certainly be entertained. Enjoy.

'The Dead Room' DVD Review

In the backwoods of New Zealand is a nice little farm with a hardworking family that is about to become a mystery. The family flees the farm when their house seems to have taken a life of its own. Doors opening and closing, mysterious sounds, and simply a feeling of doom scares them off.

The mysterious doings at this once enchanting farm has peaked the interests of two paranormal scientists Liam Andrews (Jed Brophy) and Scott Cameron (Jeffrey Thomas) along with their friend a young psychic Holly Mathews (Laura Petersen). The three investigators are a little skeptical when they first arrive on the farm.

As our heroes move from room to room and set up their equipment they realize that something is not right with this house. Once again doors open and close by themselves. Sounds can be heard all through the house and there is no explanation for them. Chandeliers begin to move by themselves and there is not even the slightest breeze to be felt.

The whole story is one possibility of terror but it's not until the last few minutes of the film when you truly learn the horror that's been all around all along. You will be amused and somewhat questioning is there ever going to be something to be scared of but in those final minutes you are going to lose your lunch.

Scream Factory brings this wonderful horror story to DVD on September 6th, 2016 for our viewing pleasure. The DVD is excellent and the sights and sounds are captivating. This is a must for all you horror lovers as this movie will be a must see. This is also a must for that personal library. So don't waste any time and pick up a copy for your viewing pleasure.

'Tab Hunter Confidential' DVD Review

In the 1950's, the American Film Industry had many leading men that you could call a Hollywood heartthrob. One of the greatest heartthrob's was no one better than Tab Hunter. The man starred in dozens of films and literally reigned as the king. His great looks and that golden-boy image made the fans simply go nuts. The women would scream and shout just at the sight of him. He wouldn't have to speak a word and women would faint away. He would become the model for future matinee idols.

He would pay his dues and would eventually be taken seriously as a major movie star. He had substance and could act as well as look the part. He also had a secret that if made known would had destroyed all that he had worked hard to achieve. You see Tab Hunter was gay.

Tab would stay in the closet, so to speak, for most of his career. When the truth finally became known times had changed and he was also a little older and had lost some of his appeal as a heartthrob. This documentary looks at the career and life of a great man. His presence on the big screen never wavered and with interviews with such people as John Waters, Clint Eastwood, George Takei, Robert Wagner, Noah Wyle, Connie Stevens, and Debbie Reynolds to speak the truth about him, it makes his life story an inspiration.

What's great about this documentary is that you hear from the man himself. Tab will speak of the days when he thought he would implode and literally the truth would destroy him. Being gay in the 1950's was not easy for any individual. Being gay in the 1950's and also being a major movie star is almost unthinkable.

FilmRise has brought this wonderful story to DVD and will release it on August 23rd, 2016. The quality of DVD is excellent and the sights and sounds are exquisite. For any film buff this will be a must have for that personal library. A Hollywood legend speaks openly about what it was like to be a major film star and gay.  This is definitely a must see.
