'Blair Witch Blu-Ray' Review

The woods around Burkittsville, Maryland are supposed to be haunted. It has been twenty years since James Donahue (James Allen McCune) has seen his sister Heather. Heather was last spotted in the nearby woods while she and her friends worked on 'The Blair Witch Project'. The group had been searching the woods for evidence of foul play. You see, there had been several mysterious and unexplained events over the years and they wanted answers. What the team got became part of the mystery. They never made it out of the woods, alive.

Twenty years later James sees a video on YouTube and his sister is on it. Supposedly she's in a old house deep in the woods. James gathers some friends to go search for her. He takes Lisa (Callie Hernandez) a student filmmaker who is working on a story about the Blair Witch. He also takes his friends Peter (Brandon Scott) and Ashley (Corbin Reid) along for the ride. They really have high hopes in finding Heather or at least finding out what happened to her.

They get together with Lane (Wes Robinson) and Talia (Valorie Curry) once they are in Maryland. Wes and Talia were the people who had posted the video on YouTube with Heather on it. The two want to go along with the others and since they know where this place Heather might be, James allows them to come along.

They arrive at the woods and begin their search. All is good at first but soon everything begins to go crazy. It doesn't take long before the group knows that something is terribly wrong and that all that has been said about the woods is real.

Lionsgate brings this horror to us on DVD on January 3rd, 2017. The quality of the Blu-Ray is excellent and the sights and sounds are perfect. This is definitely one that you will want to add to that personal horror library. You will want to make some popcorn and sit back on a snowy night and just let your imagination go. This movie will make you love being afraid all over again. Enjoy.

'The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson: Johnny and Friends Featuring Jerry Seinfeld' DVD Review

If you were a young comic back in the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's one of your big steps would come from an appearance on The Tonight Show. Young comics would come from the comedy store and if they were good enough they might get a wave of the hand to come over and sit with Johnny Carson. One such comic was a young Jerry Seinfeld. He would first appear on the show on May 6th, 1981. Johnny Carson was very impressed and Seinfeld would become a frequent guest. Seinfeld would later get his own show on NBC in 1989 and it would go onto become one of TV's greatest hits.

Now, the DVD will feature three shows with the first show coming from June 27th, 1985. This show would just be another visit by the young comic except it would feature "Mr. Rambo's Neighborhood" a skit made famous by The Mighty Carson Art Players. The second show that is featured will come from February 21th, 1986. It would have drag racer Shirley Muldowney and would have the first appearance of Oprah Winfrey on The Tonight Show. History in the making was this show. The third selection comes from June 9th, 1988 and would have Arnold Schwarzenegger and Andre Agassi as guests along with Jerry Seinfeld. The young comic had made a name for himself by now and would have his own show within the year.

Timelife brings this collection of shows to DVD on January 10th, 2017. The quality of the DVD is excellent and the sights and sounds are exquisite. This DVD will make a great addition to that personal library of yours. This will keep you laughing all the way through it. Watch a young Jerry Seinfeld work his way into the heart of America. Enjoy.

'The Red Skelton Hour In Color' DVD Review

Red Skelton began taping his weekly shows in an old converted movie studio. For CBS he was the first to do so in color. The son of an old circus clown Red Skelton would become the clown prince of TV comedy. His zany characters like Clem Kadiddlehopper, Sheriff Deadeye, and one of my favorites Freddie the Freeloader would keep us in stitches for twenty beautiful years. His shows were suited for the whole family. You had comedy, dancing and singing and for an hour each week you could count on being entertained.

Red Skelton was brilliant. He knew what America wanted and he delivered. This clown prince as he was called would have the best of the best for entertainers on his show. Stars like Phyllis Diller, John Wayne, Mickey Rooney, Tim Conway, and Milton Berle. Red was a patriot through and through. He loved America and it would show each week on his shows. Red would become an accomplished painter, mostly painting clowns. Skelton loved to entertain and if you were lucky to be alive when his show was on I guarantee that you were one of many who would have watched his shows.

Timelife has put together 12 never before released episodes onto DVD and you will be able to buy it on January 3rd, 2017. The DVD quality is excellent and the sights and sounds are terrific. This is history at its best. TV was young and innocent and Red Skelton was a perfect fit. This will make a perfect addition to that personal library. Your children and grandchildren will thank you over and over for picking this up. This is wonderful entertainment for the whole family. Comedy is supreme if you watch Red Skelton. Entertainment is delivered every single time when Red Skelton is concerned. Enjoy.
