Grace Greenleaf (Merle Dandridge) is a journalist and because of the mysterious death of her sister is going home after a twenty year absence. Her family is glad to see her but her mother Lady Mae (Lynn Whitfield) is not happy about the reunion. Her father Bishop James Greenleaf (Keith David) is the leader of the Calvary Fellowship World Ministries is delighted to see his daughter. The problems begin when Grace sees that not all is what it appears to be in the Memphis mega-church. She sees the large African-American church for a place that on the outside is pure as newly fallen snow but underneath is simply a cover for the dirt it actually is beneath.
Grace's journalist background is telling her that something is not right with the way her sister Faith died. She decides to stay in Memphis to see if she can uncover what really happened to her sister. Grace's Aunt Mavis (Oprah Winfrey) is considered the outsider in the family but is willing to tell Grace some of the deep dark secrets aboutthe church. For instance, Grace finds out that her Uncle Mac (Gregory Alan Williams) is still raping young girls and is actually getting away with it because of the church. Grace eventually goes to a church service and immediately realizes why she left the church and her family. As Grace continues to search for the truth of her sisters death she finds out more about just how corrupt the church and her family really are.
Lionsgate brings this tale of faith gone bad to Blu-Ray on December 6th, 2015. The quality is excellent and the sights and sounds are exquisite. This would make an excellent gift this holiday season. It would also make a wonderful addition to your own personal library. So sit back and watch just how unfaithful a church can be. Enjoy the story of a family gone bad and see whether Grace can uncover the truth of her sisters death.
