Our story is about a young woman named Goldie (Slick Woods). Now, Goldie has always dreamed of being a star and she is trying to accomplish her goal. The problem is that life keeps getting into the way. Her Mother has been lock up and she has to care for her younger sisters Sherrie and Supreme. Goldie also has to keep what’s left of her family together before child welfare services separates them all. Goldie has dreams of owning a golden fur coat. She’s been wanting it for some time but doesn’t have the cash to buy it.
Goldie has always wanted to be a star and has always believed that she could be one. The only thing in her way is the life she has been dealt. She will do anything for her sisters and she will beg for an inhaler for one of them when they have an asthma attack. She doesn’t steal it but she surely does flirt with the pharmacist to get it. The back drop to our film is New York and it’s pure New York. Meaning it’s not the glamorous side but the seedier.
Director Sam de Jong does a wonderful job on putting this altogether. It’s raw but glamorous all at the same time. You find yourself sitting back and cheering Goldie on to live her dream. You don’t want to see her fail.
Slick Woods is making her debut in the film business with this film. She is a supermodel and now she can also put actor on her resume. There will be more parts coming her way and we will see her in more films.
Film Movement brings this wonderful film to DVD on April 14th, 2020. The quality of the DVD is excellent. The sights and sounds are superb and they help make the movie. This is definitely one coming of age story that you will watch over and over. Goldie is an enjoyable film that you will want to have in your personal library. That way you can go back and get it off the shelf and watch the dreams of a young 18 year old come true.
