Toronto Detective William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson) is a methodical person when it comes to crime solving. He uses every new technique that he comes across to solve Toronto's most gruesome murders. He also has that dashing Edwardian way that helps him enormously when it comes to a case.
Christmas time has come once again for this beautiful Canadian city and once again crime is not far behind. Just a few days before Christmas a train robbery occurs and Murdoch is called in to investigate. There were witnesses to the crime that claim the robber had superhuman strengths and abilities. Constable Crabtree (Jonny Harris) a writer outside of work begins to think that the robber is similar to a character from his latest book. A person he calls Jumping Jack. Now, at first everyone believes that it is just a coincidence of the similarities but then robberies occur at Eaton's Luxury Department all over the city of Toronto. This makes everyone believe that the character Jumping Jack has come to life or it could simply be a could be a copycat.
This being the holiday season life goes on in other areas, take Inspector Brackenreid (Thomas Craig) ordering the formation of a police choir. Yes,life does go on and even Dr. Julia Ogden has gotten into the season by trying to help two small orphans. What makes this even more special is that the children believe Dr. Ogden is a fairy tale heroine and that she must be make believe.
