Patrick Melrose (Benedict Cumberbatch) has led a privileged but very tragic life. He grew up in the South of France. His father (Hugo Weaving) was abusive to young Patrick. One would think that all would be perfect if you were living in France but even tragedy can find you nowhere. His mother (Jennifer Jason Leigh) neglected young Patrick and did mother to stop his father’s abusive nature to the young boy. As young Patrick grew he would find ways to overcome the neglect and abuse at the hands of his parents.
Patrick would start to use drugs to combat his problems and it would be in his twenties that he would experience a very high abuse of heroin. By now he was living in New York City and was high every day. Patrick would eventually travel to Britain and would attempt to stay sober and take care of his family. He would fight his drug addiction and sometimes he would win and there would be times that he would fall back to his old ways.
This show is beautiful. There are times when your laughing hysterically and then a minute later you would be in tears. The acting is fantastic and the cast are superb in this critically acclaimed miniseries. The cast includes Allison Williams, Blythe Danner, Indira Varma and Jessica Raine.
This frantically funny miniseries is coming to DVD from Acorn.
The DVD will be ready on June 18th, 2019. The quality of the DVD is excellent and the sights and sounds are exquisite. This will make a wonderful addition to that personal library you have in your home. You will watch this show over and over and will make you want to see it all on a rainy afternoon. So don’t waste any time and pick this one up. 'Patrick Melrose' is a wonderful story of even though you may come from a privileged family you can still have problems just like everyone else.
