'Intimacy' is Chinese director Yichun Jiang first feature film and he does a wonderful job. Our story is about two young adults who are simply going through the motions of living. Bin (Jingxuan Huang) works at a tourist shop that he helps his mother run. Qin (Xipeng Zhang) is simply a spoiled little daughter of a wealthy family. Qin spends her days doing little or nothing all day.
Both young adults are looking for a better meaning to their lives or in other words they are simply bored. Bin lives in the town of Dali. Qin lives in the big city of Shanghai. Bin decides he wants to get out of his little village and go to the big city. He really wants to just get away from his hum drum existence and experience the big city. For you see he really does ant to see the world. He has for some time wanted to experience bigger places especially when he works at the tourist shop is always hearing stories of the outside world.
Qin decides to go outside her home one day and experience her hometown. The funny thing is these two lost souls cross paths and their lives are changed forever. Our story turns to pure romance after this and these two young people find out more about themselves than they did before.
Director Jiang is able through the film to cross the language barrier and show the love that finally comes out of these two lost souls. Yes it is in Chinese but the acting is wonderful in this coming of age romantic dramas. Director Jiang does very well for his first feature film and I look forward to seeing what he can accomplish in the future.
The quality of the DVD is excellent. IndiePix Films brings this romantic drama to DVD on September 17th, 2019. The sights and sounds of the DVD are superb and with Shanghai as the backdrop to this film is fantastic. It really is a beautiful city. This DVD will be an excellent addition to your personal library. So don’t waste any time and pick this one up soon.
