'The Carol Burnett Show: The Best Of Harvey Korman' DVD Review

'The Carol Burnett Show' debuted in 1967. Harvey Korman would be there from the beginning. He would spend ten years being the number two to the number one TV performer of that time. Korman would sing and dance and entertain us every week. The man would prance and ad-lib on stage to the roar of the audience as well as the TV audience. This single DVD will entertain you with three out of four of the rarest episodes. In other words they haven't been seen in over 40 years.
Korman will entertain us as a Hugh Hefner type to indulge with his ego. One of the better skits is Korman playing a conga player to Burnett's Carmen Miranda character it will leave you in stitches. Another skit has Korman, Burnett, and Vicki Lawrence all dressed up in sequined dresses and heels and they're playing The Andrew Sisters. Yes, that's right Harvey Korman in dress and heels and it is comedy at its best.

You really must understand Harvey Korman is pure genius and it shows. It showed when he won four Emmys and four Golden Globes for his work on 'The Carol Burnett Show'. Korman was one of the best and you will enjoy this DVD.

You will see Korman play the President and he will entertain us in a 'Fireside Chat'. Along with the Burnett gang you'll also have guest appearances with Sid Caesar, Diahann Carroll, Ella Fitzgerald, Bernadette Peters and Nancy Wilson.

'Minnie's Happy Helpers' DVD Review

Minnie and her Happy Helpers are literally going around town with a song in their heart and a smile on their faces as they help anyone in need. Whether it be family or friend the Happy Helpers simply want to help.  The helpers also enjoy singing while they work. The gang does an excellent job whether they babysit an egg or planning what some believe is the perfect party.

The gang star in episodes like 'Egg-Xasperating', 'Happy Hula Helpers', 'Tea Time Troubles', 'Happy Birthday Helpers', 'Bed and Breakfast Bungled', and 'Gone Fishing'. You will also receive an extra episode titled 'Teed Off'.

The fun part of this DVD is how the Happy Helpers make work seem enjoyable. You see for most children all they see are their parents going off to work in the morning most of the time in a good mood  and coming  home in a miserable state. So for a child viewing these stories they can actually look at work as something enjoyable and just not a chore.

There is also another aspect of these stories that one can view as a good thing and that is just how beautiful friendships can be. Minnie and her friends are terrific friends and it really shows. In the story about helping with a birthday party the gang really go overboard and you can easily see just how well the gang get along.

Disney brings these wonderful stories to DVD on July 25th, 2017. The quality of the DVD is excellent and the sights and sounds are fantastic. This is an excellent way to show the kids just how much fun growing up or simply being a kid can be. 'Game Changers' DVD Review

Bryan (Brian Bernys) and Scott (Jake Albarella) have been lifelong friends. They are also legends in the e-sports games. The two men are known as professional gamers. They work together for a company that is not doing so well. The guys are in their late 20's and are now learning what it is to be adults. Both men did their best to stay away from that evil word named adulthood but time has finally caught up with them. What they feel they want more is the fame that goes with the games.

Bryan wants to be a pro gamer once again. He wants it badly but it's Scott that has begun that terrible process of growing up and doesn't have the urge to be that famous gamer again. He agrees to help work with  Bryan on putting a team together that will take them back to the top. Scott knows they have to find the best of the best. The problem is just how far will the two men go to get back to the top. For some people getting to the top can be easy but for some they will stab another in the back to achieve what they want.

'Rake, Series 2' DVD Review

Cleaver Greene (Richard Roxburgh) is a very capable barrister out of Sydney, Australia. Greene is a sharp witted individual who if he's not careful may find himself on the other side of the law one day. You see Greene's personal life is in utter chaos. For instance, when your a barrister the last thing you want to do is make the Attorney General one of your enemies. Attorney General Cal McGregor (Damien Garvey) wants Greene badly because he had an affair with his wife who also happens to be the Premiere of New South Wales.

This is all taking place while Greene is defending the wife of a newly converted muslim who tried to blow up the Federal Parliament and the Prime Minister. The man mistook the New South Wales Parliament building for the Federal Parliament and the only thing he actually blew up was himself. The wife is being charged with conspiracy to commit acts of terrorism. So you see this being the first episode of Series 2 that you are going to love the rest.

Rake is a fantastic show out of Australia and its catching on here in America also. It's entertaining and fun to watch. The story-lines make you sometimes cringe because you just can't believe how Greene gets by with all the turmoil in his life while defending terrorists, teenage murderers, and leakers of classified materials. For instance, in the second episode we find Greene defending an ex-teacher who breaks into a meeting of the British Secret Service and their Australian counterparts, all because he is fed up with the lack of communication skills in our digital world. You see he's an ex-English teacher and he has had a bad day. Unfortunately, the Attorney General wants to teach our teacher a lesson and makes a big deal out of the case. Greene of course has to try and get him off at least of the serious charges.

Acorn brings this wonderful show to DVD on July 11th, 2017. The quality of the DVD is excellent and the sights and sounds are fantastic. This is definitely one for the personal library and you will watch 'Rake, Series 2'  over and over. Enjoy.

'The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson: Johnny and Friends Featuring Steve Martin, Robin Williams & Eddie Murphy' DVD Review

'Here's Johnny!' How many years did we hear those two words? Johnny Carson is why America stayed up late. Some of the best shows came in the 70's, 80's, and 90's and these three comedians made us laugh and laugh late at night.

Steve Martin had been working as a writer for 'The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour'. He began to branch out with his own comic routines but it was in 1972 that he would be vanished from 'The Tonight Show'. Martin grew as a comedian and would be invited back as a guest host for 'The Tonight Show' and bam life took off for the young man.

Robin Williams would come to 'The Tonight Show' and would square off with Johnny about the latest gossip and fads or would simply just talk about anything that came in his bizarre mind. Johnny would simply sit back in awe of Robin and just play along.

Eddie Murphy, in 1982, was simply starting his career but by the time his third appearance took place he was on his way to becoming a star. In a matter of seven months he would be a star on 'Saturday Night Live' and his first comedy album was being Grammy nominated. Murphy would also be shooting his first movie in this short period of time.

'The Tonight Show' was a stepping stone for some of the greatest comedians, singers, and actors of all time. For most of America if you made it on 'The Tonight Show' then you made it altogether. Johnny Carson was loved by the American late night audience and he simply could do no wrong.Time Life is bringing this show to us on DVD on July 4th, 2017.
