'East West 101 Series 1' DVD Review

Detective Zane Malik (Don Hany) works for Sydney’s Major Crime Squad. This Metropolitan Police unit deals with tensions within cultures, religions and economic statuses of Sydney’s western suburbs. Now, one might think for a Muslim like Malik that this would be a very stressful job. Malik is a devout Muslim but he wants to prove to his fellow officers that he can handle the pressure of the job. For the most part he does a wonderful job but he constantly is having run ins with one of his superiors. This has been going on for quite some time with Senior Detective Raw Crowley (William McInnes). These two opposites have been going at each other for sometime and rarely see eye to eye. What is very interesting is that when both men are dealing with a personal traumas that may over flow into the job the two come together to help each other. The two men understand that for the better good they can overcome their differences and find justice.

This drama is a little different from most in that the stories are true to life. Thus making this a wonderful show to watch. This is not just another show that reflects the anti-Muslim sentiment that can be seen in most neighborhoods. This show takes a good look at different scopes of life in a certain neighborhood.

This is definitely one of the better crime shows on at the moment and is definitely worth the watch. This is one of the more sophisticated crime dramas around. Acorn TV is bringing this fantastic crime drama to DVD on January 30th, 2018. The quality of the DVDs are excellent and the sights and sounds are perfect. This show is going to look real good in your personal library. Don’t waste any time picking it up and enjoy quality TV.

'The Commander: The Complete Collection' DVD Review

Clare Blake (Amanda Burton) has been working for the London Metropolitan Police for the last 20 years. In that time she has risen to be New Scotland Yard’s highest ranking female officer. She is the commander of the Serious Crime Group. She is also the head of the Murder Review Team. Now this woman could be called terribly ambitious. You might even want to say she is very dedicated to her job. Along the way you could say she has crossed the line with her personal life and her career. This has been a problem of hers in that letting her personal life interfere with her cases and has made her reckless at times. She gets way to involved with her work which clouds her judgement at times and that makes her superiors very nervous.

Blake is a very driven woman, no one can take that away from her, but it can make her reckless at times. It also puts a target on her back if anything goes wrong with a case. It’s hard enough to be a female officer in this day and age but when your also a proven taskmaster well that just makes a persons life even harder.

This series has some great guest stars like Hugh Bonneville, James D’Arcy, Saskia Reeves, Simon Williams, Brendan Coyle, Matt Day, Greg Wise, David Patrick O’Hara and Yorick van Wageningen.
This series was written by Lynda La Plante who created 'Prime Suspect', one of the BBC greats.

Acorn is bringing  this series to DVD on January 16th, 2018. The quality of the DVD is excellent and the sights and sounds are fantastic. This will make an excellent addition to your personal library. So sit back and enjoy watching a very determined, very reckless but very qualified woman do a man’s job so to speak. It’s kind of funny when you think about it men always had this arrogant attitude about what women could do and now we find out that they are just as good as men. Enjoy this very entertaining show over and over it’s that good.

'Alibi' DVD Review

'Alibi' is a wonderful thriller written by Paul Abbott. The story will keep you on the edge of the couch the entire time you are watching it. Businessman Greg Brentwood (Michael Kitchen) is a rather neurotic kind of guy who wants to throw his wife Linda (Phyllis Logan) an anniversary party that some would say is rather extravagant. They live in a beautiful English country home and had a wonderful catered event to celebrate their love. At least that’s what most people thought, for you see Linda was seen in an intimate embrace with one her husband's business partners by the name of Martin.

One of the caterers named Marcey (Sophie Okonedo) was the person who saw the embrace. Marcey would leave the affair but would forget her purse and have to go back to retrieve it. Marcey let’s herself in and finds Martins lifeless body being moved by Greg. Greg immediately assures her that it was all an accident and that she should not be afraid. Greg does a wonderful job with Marcey that she actually agrees to help with the removal of the body. The police are called to investigate the death of Martin and all seems normal until Greg begins to lose his composure and becomes very anxious or agitated. Marcey becomes the calm one and tries to reassure Greg that all will be good but soon finds out that there was much going on behind the scenes with the Brentwood’s marriage and lives. Marcey eventually begins to wonder just what she has gotten herself into and all begins to unravel.

Acorn brings this psychological thriller to us on DVD on January 16, 2018. The sights and sounds of the DVD is excellent and the quality of the DVD is beautiful. This story will make a wonderful addition to that personal library. Don’t waste any time and pick this one up. Enjoy.
