'The Truth Will Out' DVD Review

'The Truth Will Out' is a Swedish crime drama with its droll humor is actually a good series to watch. Detective Peter Wendel (Robert Gustafsson) is trying to make a comeback at work. You see awhile back Peter suffered a mental breakdown and must prove himself all over again. His superiors have given him a task to put together a squad that handles cold cases. This elite team that is being put to together should be a group of the best detectives unfortunately Peter only has access to the dregs of the police force. Peter doesn’t have a lot of time to put his squad together. The police have found a body with a note attached to it that states that Sweden’s most dangerous serial killer is a fake, a fraud.

So this is what Peter Wendel is up against. He finds two police officers who can’t stand each other and they don’t try to hide it. He hires a woman who is not even a cop but shoots from the hip about everything she says. In other words she doesn’t hold anything back and is very outspoken.
The best thing about this series is that when you put everything together it all falls into place and all you can do is sit back and enjoy. Our story is based on the true story of Thomas Quick who was a Swedish mass murderer who was convicted but was later proven innocent.

Acorn brings this Swedish crime drama to DVD on October 1st, 2019. The DVD quality is quite good and the sights and sounds are excellent. The scenery is the best and like I’ve said when you put the team together and Detective Peter Wendel starts to solving the cold cases this series is one of the best. So don’t waste any time and pick this one up and enjoy.

'Hypnosis To Be Happy' DVD Review

Pilar (Ericka Ramirez) and Felipe (Anton Araiza) are in their forties. They’re loners in the big city of Mexico City. They are friends or at least in a friendly relationship but Felipe doesn’t waste any time and proposes to Pilar. Pilar is very much caught off guard and refuses. The relationship takes a spin into a desperate but somewhat adventurous new level. It is during this time that Pilar learns of some of Felipe’s intimate side. One thing that comes out is a mantra that has kept Felipe afloat through some of his worst times. The mantra comes from a 1970’s cassette program that has a certain hypnotic discourse. It takes the two forty somethings into a relationship that is part romance and part road trip.

Filmmaker/producer Victor Audiffred actually brings the viewers of this show into a look at ones own Lonnie’s and to find out what really is the meaning of true happiness. Many people are like our two actors, lost in the middle of their lives. Not truly knowing what love means and not understanding what loneliness is all about. Yes there are films that the viewer can learn something about themselves. Pilar and Felipe are both wanting to be loved and to be in love but because they have spent half of their life searching for it they just can’t see beyond they’re own desperation. What’s funny is a 1970’s audio cassette can actually bring them around.

IndiePix Films brings this off beat love affair to us on DVD on September 24th, 2019. Now the quality of the DVD is very good and the sights and sounds are exquisite. This is definitely one DVD that you will want to add to your personal library. You will watch this one over and over and yes you will be able to see what your life might need to make it a true sense of self.

'Pitching In' DVD Review

Frank Hardcastle (Larry Lamb) is a man who owns and runs a Holiday Park on the North Wales coast. The park is a little outdated but it is comfy and cozy and the scenery is beautiful. His daughter Carys (Caroline Sheen) decides to come home with her son. This would be okay, but the girl is a little nuts. This is the first time Carys has come home since her mom’s death some 18 months ago. Now Frank is getting up in years and he’s been thinking about selling the place.

Carys finds out about this and immediately works on changing her fathers mind. Carys wants to plan events of medieval re-enactments to try and lure customers. Carys also wants to try and entice the fitness freaks with fitness retreats and the such. Now, Carys is a little on the strong willed side and doesn’t want to give up. She has problems with her teenage son who is going through some tough times. So it’s not easy for her to get these ideas going. The funny part of all this is the residents of Daffodil Dunes are very content with the way things are with the way Frank has been running everything and really like their cozy little place in North Wales. Carys also has to deal with Iona (Hayley Mills) an estate agent that her father got in touch with and she has ideas of her own.

'Momo: The Missouri Monster' DVD Review

It was 1972 and the riverfront town of Louisiana, Missouri is about to become national news. Louisiana is a very small and quiet place but on a warm summer evening it’s world would change. Two young local children would watch a creature carry a dead dog across their backyard. This creature was hair covered with three toes. Now the creature had been seen in the forests of Star hill which is close to Louisiana but this was the first sighting in the small town. The word got out and the media went nuts with the story.

Louisiana has its own Bigfoot. The newspapers started to call it MOMO. The Harrison family who were named in the sighting became the town joke. Louisiana became monster central everyone who was into these sightings swarmed on the small town. The woods were crawling with monster hunters and the townsfolk began to freak out with all the notoriety. Seth Breedlove wanted to tell the true story of what took place back in the summer of 1972.

'Momo: The Missouri Monster'  is a must watch Docudrama. It tells the story of the sighting as well as the chaos that followed. It also tries to show how after a awhile and the story died down and everyone started to question its reliability as to if the story was ever true. For most of us who have never seen a creature like MOMO or Bigfoot we question everything about these stories. For some of us who believe anything and everything is possible then we look at this story with some skepticism but also with the belief that it could be true.

Small Town Monsters brings this story to DVD on September 20th,2019. The quality of the DVD is superb. The sights and sounds are excellent. The story is wonderfully done and this is one fine story to watch and see. This will make a wonderful addition to your personal library of DVDs. So don’t wast any time and pick this one up.

'The Kids Table' DVD Review

Bridge was once second popular pastime behind Baseball in America. Now, some 50 years later, it is on the verge of extinction. The average age of anyone playing bridge is some in their 70’s. Directors Edd Benda and Stephen Helstad have come up with a documentary on the possible demise of a national pastime. The two directors brought together four friends Benda whose occupation is a filmmaker, Monique Thomas a comedian, Twitch host Stefanie Woodburn and Paul Stanko an actor. When the four friends got together for this documentary they were very much novices at the game. They trained and then the directors have them compete for a year on what is called the National Bridge Circuit.

Now, as the four go behind the scenes and watch and learn they begin to feel out of place because the average age of their opponents is around 73. You see the four friends are millennials and are truly out of place with the other competitors.

Not only do the four friends learn the ins and outs of competitive play but they also learn about community. For you see the older generation are able to show the kids how to get along not only with themselves but with others. What is also thought about this documentary is that it might get a generation of individuals realize that Bridge is still a card game to be enjoyed by future generations.

Beyond The Porch and the ACBL Educational Foundation brings this documentary to DVD on September 17th, 2019. Now the quality of the DVD is fantastic and the sights and sounds are wonderful. This documentary is a pleasure to watch and you actually learn something about the game as well as yourself. This will make a wonderful addition to that personal library of DVDs you have at home. So don’t waste any time and pick it up.

'Intimacy' DVD Review

'Intimacy' is Chinese director Yichun Jiang first feature film and he does a wonderful job. Our story is about two young adults who are simply going through the motions of living. Bin (Jingxuan Huang) works at a tourist shop that he helps his mother run. Qin (Xipeng Zhang) is simply a spoiled little daughter of a wealthy family. Qin spends her days doing little or nothing all day.
Both young adults are looking for a better meaning to their lives or in other words they are simply bored. Bin lives in the town of Dali. Qin lives in the big city of Shanghai. Bin decides he wants to get out of his little village and go to the big city. He really wants to just get away from his hum drum existence and experience the big city. For you see he really does ant to see the world. He has for some time wanted to experience bigger places especially when he works at the tourist shop is always hearing stories of the outside world.

Qin decides to go outside her home one day and experience her hometown. The funny thing is these two lost souls cross paths and their lives are changed forever. Our story turns to pure romance after this and these two young people find out more about themselves than they did before.
