Detectorists, Series 3 (The Final Season) DVD Review

Andy (Mackenzie Crook) and Lance (Toby Jones) are best of friends. They enjoy scouring the English countryside trying to find hidden treasure with their metal detectors. They aren't trying to become rich by doing this but it would be nice that once in awhile they would come across something worth some money.

Andy and his wife Becky (Rachael Stirling) have recently moved in with her mother. Now, you might think awe how charming but when Becky's mother (Diana Rigg) turns out to be a very formidable individual it really makes coming home a chore. Andy's life as an archaeologist which he thought was his dream job is not going as well as he had hoped. So you see the only time that Andy can be happy is when he is out walking around looking for treasure.

Now, Lance on the other hand is having his own problems. Lance and his girlfriend have a house guest. His daughter is living with them an all Lance can do is worry about how it will effect his relationship with his girlfriend. You might say to yourself that these two men should be worried about a whole lot more than this pettiness but they don't well maybe they do.
You see their favorite field that they go searching for treasure is about to bought by a construction firm who want to turn it into a solar farm. What are Andy and Lance going to do about all this calamity in their lives. Well pick up the DVD and you can find out.

The beautiful thing about this show is its hilarious. The first minutes to the very end will keep you laughing. Funny thing is that at times a person can actually say to themselves that hey I've done that before. Most people can't say that they have been out in the middle of a field with a metal detector looking for treasure but they can certainly say that they have had to move in with the mother-in-law. They can also say that they have been with a new girlfriend and the children of a former marriage have moved in. So you see there is a little of all of us in this show.

Acorn brings this delightful series to us on DVD on May 29, 2018. The quality of the DVD is excellent and the sights and sounds are perfect. So don't waste any time and pick this one up and add it to that personal DVD library. It will make some Sunday afternoon a joy to watch the 'Detectorists, Series 3 (The Final Season)' at their very best.

'The Jackie Gleason Show In Color Deluxe Edition' DVD Review

Jackie Gleason entertained us from 1966-1970 from Miami Beach, Florida. He would entertain us each week with sketches that would make you laugh so hard it really was embarrassing. He would bring out his classic characters and the guest stars were the greatest. He would even have the honeymooners on the show and for most, that was a step back down memory lane. This was an hour each week that was pure entertainment. He would always say “And away we go” to start the show off, and in this collection you will get 12 never before seen episodes.

You will get 7 of 'The Honeymooners' episodes not seen since they originally aired. You will get 'Norton Moves In', 'The New Manager', 'The New Bowling Ball', 'Hot Tip', 'Lawsuit', 'Alice’s Birthday', and 'Six Months To Live'. Let me tell you...these are great. Gleason’s guests were the best. For instance, Jack Benny, Frankie Avalon, Florence Henderson, Phil Silvers, Groucho Marx, Tony Bennett, Mickey Rooney, Milton Berle, and the fabulous George Burns just to name a few. Jackie Gleason was an entertainer extraordinaire. For years we laughed, cried, sang songs, and hated him for some of the roles he played in film. He lived in and loved Miami Beach and was a fixture there for many years going up to his death.

Time Life is bringing this DVD collection to us on May 15th, 2018. The quality of the DVD is fantastic. The sights and sounds are perfect. You will want to pick this one up for your personal library and you will be going back to see it over and over for a very long time. Jackie Gleason was one of the best entertainers of the 20th century and if you were able to catch him on TV, Film, or live in person you knew when the show was over you had been entertained. So don’t waste any time and watch television history and be entertained like we use to be. Enjoy.

'When The Starlight Ends' DVD Review

Jacob (Sam Heughan) and Cassandra (Arabella Oz) have been together for five years, seven months and eleven days. Unfortunately they are now breaking up and this is the beginning of our love story. Cassandra had given everything for Jacob and their relationship. She worked harder so he could quit his job and write full time. After some time Jacob was doing well as a successful writer but it wasn’t what she wanted. She didn’t want the successful Jacob. She wanted the struggling man and when he had achieved his goals she lost interest.

Jacob was never an interesting kind of guy. He would always speak in philosophical terms when conversing with the love of his life. Jacob begins to fantasize about different scenarios that Cassandra would be in. She would play different roles in these fantasies. He would have her playing the neighbors wife as they made love. Jacob would role play as if he was seeing a movie star and having dinner with her but it was still Cassandra.

This fantasy role playing would go on for some time. Jacob just couldn’t figure out what he had done to lose the love of his life. He could understand that it was over between he and Cassandra. She would be the one that he would forever love. Our love story comes off as a bit confusing. It is not one of the love building to say a crescendo but one in which we are given the love and wonder if it was ever real or just in Jacobs mind.

Cinedigm brings this wonderful tale of love gone sour to us on DVD on March 16th, 2018. The quality of the DVD is wonderful and the sights and sounds are exquisite. This is probably one of the most misunderstood love stories you will ever see but in the end it truly touches you in such a way that you fall in love with the movie. This is definitely a keeper for that personal library and you will want to watch it over and over.

'Followers' DVD Review

Brook (Amanda Delaney) and Caleb (Justin Maina) are a couple of mediocre social media celebrities. Brook will post her yoga workouts and Caleb posts his fitness videos onto social media websites and some people have begun to view them regularly. They are wanting to take a trip into the woods and celebrate their anniversary, of sorts. Actually, Caleb wants to pop the question on the trip and they are planning to video tape some of their weekend. The problem arises that they are not alone. It seems two social media wanna-be’s are stalking the love birds.

Nick (Nishant Gogna) and Jake (Sean Michael Gloria) have been following the two fitness gurus and they want to produce a documentary on just how simple it is to follow someone on social media and eventually kill them. Brook and Caleb are not the best campers and watching them find the place that they want to sleep is kind of interesting. You see Brook is a pain in the neck when it comes to being out in the woods. Nick and Jake are not the best at stalking someone so it’s kind of interesting watching them find the two love birds.

Brook and Caleb had already had problems just getting to the woods. They ran into some rednecks who recognized them from their video posts and when they leave a gas station the people try to run them off the road. Eventually Nick and Jake stumble on the pair but, things are not what they seem to be. There is more at work here then just a couple of idiots trying to become social media stars.

SKD/Cinedigm bring this marvelous thriller to DVD on May 1st, 2018. The quality of the DVD is excellent and the sights and sounds are superb. This is a wonderful movie to watch and it definitely should be added to your personal library of other quality DVDs. The question arises through the film about just how much of ourselves should we post on social media. We live in a society that believes that we should open our lives to all the world. Brook and Caleb only want to make a little money and get their names out there. They never knew that their lives were in danger because of their new found celebrity. Watch and learn the outcome of our two young love birds will they survive the camping trip.

'Rowan And Martin’s Laugh-In, The Complete Fourth Season' DVD Review

Dan Rowan and Dick Martin started the show 'Laugh-In' in 1968. The show took off like a wildfire. This show of free form comedy was what this country needed at the time. The cast has been called goofballs and at times the word fits. Arte Johnson, Gary Owens, Ruth Buzzi, Lily Tomlin, Alan Sues, and many more would begin the run of this show as nobodies and would end up household names. Some would go on to successful movie careers and others would be part of TV history. The beauty of this show was anything was up for grabs. Politics, one liners, skits, if it was in the public eyes it was all good.

For instance, when Don Rickles impersonated Arlene Francis you thought that you wouldn’t stop laughing. Sammy Davis Jr. taking on Wilt Chamberlain in a boxing match. Seriously this is great stuff. Art Carney dressed up as a masked lobster looking for work, this stuff was seriously funny.
The guest stars for 'Rowan And Martin’s Laugh-In, The Complete Fourth Season' were Flip Wilson, Orson Welles, Bob Newhart, Vincent Price, Rich Little, Phyllis Diller, Joey Bishop, Carol Channing just to name a few. One of the best skits has to be Ernestine (Lilly Tomlin) the lady at the phone switch board. One time she even called up Aristotle Onassis. One asks did political correctness ever come into play I would have to say no especially when President Richard Nixon would come on the show and say “Sock it to me”.

Time Life brings this wonderful show to DVD on May 8th, 2018. It’s only the fourth season but it’s seven DVDs and 26 episodes. The quality of the DVD’s are excellent and the sights and sounds are perfect. This is definitely one that you will want to add to your personal library.

'Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame In Concert' Blu-Ray Review

The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame is now entering its third decade of induction ceremonies. Some of these groups of the 60s, 70s, and 80s hadn’t played together in years. When it came time for them to be inducted into the Hall Of Fame they would get back together and play for the first time in years.

This two disc Blu-Ray set features some of the legends of Rock and Roll. For instance, Cat Stevens playing 'Father and Son' which made the audience believe they were in a church. When Journey was inducted they played 'Separate Ways', 'Don’t Stop Believin’', and 'Lights'. I saw that show and they rocked the house. When the last two members of Nirvana played on stage they were joined by Joan Jett, Annie Clark, Lorde and Kim Gordon and you could the pure emotion as they played some of the groups biggest hits.
