Time Zone Inn, DVD Review

Mina ( Lucrezia Guidone) and Enzo ( Marco Cassini ) are in a relationship and it’s about to take on a long distance aspect. The two are curious if they can overcome the distance. Mina is heading off to Paris as Enzo will be working in London. The couple hear of a Bed and Breakfast that is experimental. The two will be in different rooms but will actually experience life in the two cities. The couple must adhere to strict rules. They are not to go to each other’s rooms. There are no cell phones and there is no contact except for two hours a day in a common room.
Mina enjoys being woke up to the “ bells of Norte Dame “ each morning. Enzo on the other hand does not enjoy the sound of Big Ben. Mina loves her croissants each morning along with her Cafe au lait. Enzo cannot stand Bangers and Mash.
The couple break a rule by having dinner with another couple. Marco and Catia are also testing out their relationship as soon one will be living in Beijing and the other in Berlin. Soon the Bed and Breakfast throw another test at the couple by throwing in the proprietor’s niece Gaia. She is able to dismantle all sense of reality and not for the better. Long distance relationship’s are hard in this day and age and this Bed and Breakfast is able to show couples just how hard it actually is to endure.
This is an excellent film to watch just for the fun of it but if you are a couple who are about to begin a long distance relationship then it’s perfect for a couple to watch.
IndiePix Films brings this film to DVD on April 14, 2020. The quality of the DVD is fantastic and the sights and sounds are superb. This will be an excellent addition to that personal library of yours and you can watch it over and over.

'Goldie' DVD Review

Our story is about a young woman named Goldie (Slick Woods). Now, Goldie has always dreamed of being a star and she is trying to accomplish her goal. The problem is that life keeps getting into the way. Her Mother has been lock up and she has to care for her younger sisters Sherrie and Supreme. Goldie also has to keep what’s left of her family together before child welfare services separates them all. Goldie has dreams of owning a golden fur coat. She’s been wanting it for some time but doesn’t have the cash to buy it.

Goldie has always wanted to be a star and has always believed that she could be one. The only thing in her way is the life she has been dealt. She will do anything for her sisters and she will beg for an inhaler for one of them when they have an asthma attack. She doesn’t steal it but she surely does flirt with the pharmacist to get it. The back drop to our film is New York and it’s pure New York. Meaning it’s not the glamorous side but the seedier.

Director Sam de Jong does a wonderful job on putting this altogether. It’s raw but glamorous all at the same time. You find yourself sitting back and cheering Goldie on to live her dream. You don’t want to see her fail.

Slick Woods is making her debut in the film business with this film. She is a supermodel and now she can also put actor on her resume. There will be more parts coming her way and we will see her in more films.

Film Movement brings this wonderful film to DVD on April 14th, 2020. The quality of the DVD is excellent. The sights and sounds are superb and they help make the movie. This is definitely one coming of age story that you will watch over and over. Goldie is an enjoyable film that you will want to have in your personal library. That way you can go back and get it off the shelf and watch the dreams of a young 18 year old come true.

'Bravestorm' DVD Review

It’s the year 2050 and Earth is literally destroying itself. Humanity is all but dead. The invaders called the Kyrgyz has turned the atmosphere into a horrific stew. The Kasuga brothers have built a time machine so they can possibly go back in the past  to stop the invasion before it happens.

Haruka (Chihiro Yamamoto) and Koji (Shunsuke Daito) make it back and actually locate the roboticist Kenichiro Kurenai (Hisashi Yoshizawa). They talk him into building the robot they call the Red Baron. The Red Baron is going to go up against the invaders Black Baron in hopes of destroying the invading forces. The brothers have to go back on a second trip into the past to pick up the one man who can drive the Red Baron. The brothers do find Ken (Shu Watanabe) which also happens to be the doctors brother. Ken is a bare knuckle boxer but is also skilled at driving robots.

The climax of the film is interesting to say the least. The ironic part of the film is that the reason the Kyrgyz attacked Earth is because humanity was on the verge of killing itself off anyway.
Alliance Entertainment brings this action packed film to DVD on April 7th, 2020. The quality of the DVD is fantastic. The sights and sounds are superb and you will enjoy this one over and over.
Junya Okabe is Writer/Director and also in charge of special effects for this film and what is truly remarkable is that it’s his first. He really does a remarkable job. This is one of those films that you’ll want to get and have it in that personal library.

'Their Finest Hour: 5 British WWII Classics' DVD Review

In remembrance of the 75th anniversary of the end of WWII there comes some of the best of British movies about the war. These classics include 'Dunkirk' (1958), 'Went The Day Well' (1942), 'The Colditz Story' (1955), 'The Dam Busters' (1955), 'Ice Cold In Alex' (1958).

'Dunkirk', is the story of how in May 1940 London was living in a sense of false security. The Battle of France was going well for the Germans. The French army and British forces were surrounded on the shores of Dunkirk. One of the greatest rescue missions to ever take place was taking shape. This is a wonderful movie to watch and enjoy.

'Went The Day Well', is a story of the quiet Village of Bradley End. The villagers did not realize that the Lorries that had pulled onto the village green full of what looked liked Royal Engineers were actually disguised German paratroopers. This is an excellent film and is a joy to watch.

'The Colditz Story', is about the medieval fortress that was being used as a prison that held some of the most contentious Allied POWS. The fortress was 400 miles from any neutral territory. It was located in the heart of Saxony and was believed to be secure. John Mills plays a British officer tries to escape by navigating the subterranean tunnels to freedom.

'The Dam Busters', is a story about the 617 squadron that used a bouncing bomb to help destroy the Ruhr dams. Led by Air Ace Wing Commander Guy Gibson (Richard Todd) is in charge of carrying out the dangerous night raids. Excellent action and great film to watch and enjoy.

'Ice Cold In Alex', is a story of the war in Northern Africa. Captain Anson (John Mills) is tired and thirsty. He is separated from his unit. He evacuates from Alexandria in an ambulance and along the way he picks up some passengers, one of which he believes is a German spy. This is such an awesome movie.

This group of films coming to Blu-Ray are worthy of your attention. Film Movement brings these classics to Blu-Ray on March 31th, 2020. The quality of the films are excellent. The sights and sounds are superb. This will make a wonderful addition to your personal library.

'While You Live, Shine' DVD Review

Chris King is a legendary Grammy Award winning producer and musicologist. He has a collection of 78 records that far exceeds anyone else. King has used his knowledge of technology to open up the secrets of these albums to allow newer generations to enjoy them. He lives in the world of the past and enjoys the nostalgia of music of gone by era’s. King traveled to Istanbul back in 2009 and picked up some very old LPs and to his amazement heard music that he never heard before. It was instrumental but played with total abandon. The music was from Epirus which is a remote area of northwestern Greece and southern Albania. The music was folk in nature but connected us to our ancient ancestors and changed his life forever.

Chris King traveled to this remote part of our planet. He became immersed into the culture and attended dances and festivals. He would converse with fellow musicians and talk with the local shepherds and learned much about this ancient form of musical tradition. The beauty of all this was that he was able to answer the question that had perplexed him his whole life: why do we make music?

Director/Filmmaker Paul Duane tells the story of this journey of Chris King. The title While You Live, Shine comes from the song Seikilos. Which happens to be the worlds oldest recorded piece of music. It is a transcendental for of music that is carved into a stone pillar found in Turkey. The Greeks travel to Epirus each summer to sing, dance and play as they have for centuries.

IndiePix Films brings this remarkable journey to DVD on March 17th, 2020. The quality of the DVD is fantastic. The sights and sounds are wonderfully entertaining. This is a journey back in time when people would come together to enjoy music and song. This would be a wonderful addition to your personal library and make for some interesting entertainment. This is one not to pass up.

'M.O.M. (Mothers of Monsters)' DVD Review

I was able to get my hands on a DVD copy of this show and I must say it’s wonderfully done. I had my doubts at first but after watching it I was completely mesmerized. Melinda Page Hamilton stars as a single mother troubled by the actions of her son played by Bailey Edwards. Now Melinda thinks her son could be capable of murder and she goes so far as to use spy cameras all over the house to see what her son is up to.

What’s really funny about all this is that with all the school shootings and violence it’s a wonder that there aren’t more mothers or fathers in real life doing this to their homes. Now Abbey (Hamilton) doesn’t really know what she’s going to find on the film. After awhile she watches the videos only to find out that her son is plotting a school shooting. Abbey is mortified and torn between a mother’s love and the reality of what’s at stake. She finds an online “Mother’s of Monsters" web site to share the videos but what she doesn’t realize is that her son is aware of her actions. Abbey’s attempt to halt her sons actions backfires and he’s using a family secret to use against her. This in turns has mother and son against each other and leads them on a terrifying game of cat and mouse.

Indie Rights is having a world premiere of this film in Los Angeles on March 13th, 2020. They will later release a nationwide Digital HD rollout and if you have the chance you must see this one. The quality of the DVD is fantastic that I was able to view. So watch this when you can and remember this could be happening in your home.

'Temblores' DVD Review

Director Jayro Bustamante brought us a wonderful debut film 'Ixcanul' and now he has another
wonderful film titled 'Temblores'. His new film has received many awards and looks at a rather controversial subject which would be gay vs Christian morals.

A married man Pablo (Juan Pablo Olyslager) has to come to terms with his gay feelings. He. Ones from an Evangelical Christian community. He is a good son, a devoted father and a very caring husband. He just loves another man. Pablo returns to Guatemala City to live with his boyfriend Francisco. First though he must leave his wife and tell his ultra religious family of what he’s doing. The moment he tells his family that he is gay they are simply stunned. They don’t understand and only can think of they can get him back on the right track. When he tells his wife and immediate family they are just simply devastated. The shock waves that his announcement causes is unbelievable.

Pablo tries to live with Francisco in the city’s gay community but because of his family’s background it is not an easy task. The liberated Francisco doesn’t help matters but that’s only because he’s rather liberated in his lifestyle already and simply wants Pablo to leave all the past in the past. Pablo wants to try and mend all of his life together but his family only wants the straight Pablo back in their lives.
This personal story of two worlds coming together is very interesting as this has been happening all over the world for decades now. Families have been torn apart with members that are gay. It especially hits hard in Spanish or Latin communities that have deep ties to the Church. Times have been slowly changing for the gay community but it hasn’t been easy.

Film Movement brings this controversial drama to DVD on March 10th, 2020. The quality of the DVD is excellent. The sights and sounds are superb and the story line and acting are wonderful. This is definitely one for your personal library and it will certainly be a film that you will watch over and over.

'Is Anybody Listening?' DVD Review

Paula J. Caplan is a Psychologist and author who had a father who was a Captain of an all black battery that fought in the Battle is the Bulge. She grew up listening to all the stories of that famous battle. What she also heard were the stories of the men coming home and trying to settle into a world that actually didn’t exist for them anymore. As she grew up and acquired her degrees she also met and listened to hundreds of other people who also went through the same bewildered outlook of life.

You see when a person joins the military and has to fight in a battle or war they are changed forever. These people are human but then they fight and afterward try to be the same person they were before but when they talk now people believe they are mentally ill. When in reality they are simply people who have fought in a war and survived the best way they could. Most Americans don’t have the knowledge of fighting in a war and for the most part most Americans are military illiterate. Caplan learned early on what these proud Americans needed and has fought to help them. She set Listen to a Veteran a national non-profit organization that simply listens respectfully to what a veteran has to say. Instead of isolation they are able to bring them into the fold of humanity again.

This story is a documentary/drama that brings home the message of love and heart full thanks to the men and women who have served in the military during times of war. Caplan has even interviewed vets like 96 year old Isaac Pope who served with her father in the Battle of the Bulge. The quality of the DVD is excellent. The sights and sounds are superb. This is a must for every American whether you have served or not. It will give you an insight into a hell that some people are not able to come back from but desperately need our help. Don’t pass this one up and add it to that personal library.

'Winter Flies' DVD Review

Fourteen year old Mara (TomĂ¡Å¡ MrvĂk) is a very rebellious young lad. His younger friend Hedus (Jan FrantiÅ¡ek Uher) is a positive, pudgy young boy who simply just wants to hang out with Mara. The boys decide they want to go off on a road trip. So they steal an Audi and they drive off into the frozen wastelands of the Czech Republic. The two have a great time on the road and even pick up a young female hitchhiker (Eliska Krenkova). Like most young boys this is a trip of a lifetime. You never really find out just why the boys went on the road trip. You have your suspicions but you never really learn the truth. Eventually the boys do get pulled over and taken into custody by some local police.
This is truly where the fun begins for you find out how they acquired a dog and a hitchhiker. You learn how sexually stimulating it was to have the young lady in the car as they traveled the Czech roads. The police officer who is grilling Mara or actually listening to his stories is not very sympathetic maybe because he wanted to do something crazy like this when he was a young boy.
Czech Director Olmo Omerzu does a wonderful job with this coming of age story with our two young men. The film made it to being nominated as an Oscar nomination for Best International Film In 2019.
Film Movement is bringing this enjoyable film to DVD for us on February 11th, 2020. The quality of the DVD is fantastic and the sights and sounds are excellent. You really do get the feeling as if you are right there in the backseat driving down the Czech countryside. You will want to pick this one up and put it that personal library of yours for it is a joy to watch. You may want to pick this one up and give it to that special someone as a gift. You will watch it over and over so sit back and enjoy.

'High Strung: Free Dance' Blu-Ray Review

Zander Raines (Thomas Doherty) is a wonderful up and coming Choreographer. . He is working on a new  Broadway show that could be the hit of the season. Raines goes out on a limb and casts a dancer by the name of Barlow (Juliet Doherty). Raines also gives a young innovative pianist named Charlie (Harry Jarvis).  Barlow is a looker and Charlie as well as Raines both notice it right away.

This threesome of sorts makes for some interesting scenes in the movie. Barlow has the looks and can dance but when it comes to her mother Oksana (Jane Seymour) she simply has an attitude. It might just be that Oksana was a dancer and as a mom might be just be a little overbearing. She does mean well but Barlow has a mind of her own and fights back when she can.
Charlie on the other hand was a delivery driver who simply is a very talented and innovative pianist.

As I said earlier Charlie notices Barlow right away and you can see the chemistry early on. Unfortunately Raines has it bad for his lead dancer and lets it be known. Barlow simply plays them both and enjoys the attention.

The music and the dancing are pretty incredible. Those of you who enjoy dance then this film is for you. If you care for chemistry between young actors then this film is for you. Those who enjoy both dance and chemistry then your in luck because you are going to be tinkled pink with this film.

GVN Releasing is bringing this film to Blu-Ray on February 4th, 2020. The quality of the Blu-Ray is excellent. The sights and sounds are superb and the show is wonderful. This is one those films that you will want to pick up and put in your personal library. It would also make a great gift for that special person. Once you have this film in your possession you will be watching it over and over. So watch the rivalry and romance and see where the love falls. Enjoy.

'I Got You Babe : The Best Of Sonny & Cher' DVD Review

Salvatore Bono “Sonny” and Cherilyn Sarkisian “Cher” would come together in the 1960’s and the music the produced was sensational. The popularity of the two along with the love between the two grew by leaps and bounds. The pair were singing in nightclubs in 1970 and in the audience one night was Fred Silverman head of CBS entertainment. He watched the show and loved how Sonny and Cher sounded but also loved how they mixed in between songs. He thought what a great variety show these two could put together. On August 1st, 1971 'The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour' premiered. It started as a Summer replacement and soon had millions of followers it would run from 1971-1974.
Each week audiences would tune in just to see what Cher was wearing. Most of the time people would tune in just to see how little Cher was wearing her outfits were very risqué. The comedy was hilarious and the music was fabulous. To this day it is still one of the best shows ever to play TV.
Bob Mackie designed the costumes Cher would wear. Guest stars would include the Supremes, Chuck Berry, the Righteous Brothers, Dinah Shore, and Jim Nabors. Along with Dick Clark, Jerry Lewis, Carroll O’Connor, Art Carney and many more would entertain us each week.

'The Merger' DVD Review

Our story is about a former Australian footballer who has turned in what you could call a social justice campaigner. Troy Carrington (Damian Callinan) has returned home to Bodgy Creek and is talked into coaching the town’s football team. Bodgy Creek is in the middle of a drought. The local mill where many worked has been shut down and the football team is very sad to say the least. Now all this started when Troy struck a friendship with Neil (Rafferty Grierson) who has been having a bad time since the death of his father. Troy meets  Eli’s mom Angie (Kate Mulvany) and the two hit it off. Angie happens to be in charge of a refugee support center that is near Bodgy Creek. Troy goes to visit the center and happens to see some it’s residents playing football. Troy and Angie then have a plan to possibly incorporate the refugee’s onto the team and possibly save it.
Troy needs this as since his return home he was living a sort of hermit type of existence. When he became the coach everyone thought that this would bring him around. When faced with the fact that none of the residents of Bodgy Creek were really any good at football Troy retreated back into himself, but with the refugees he saw a chance to turn things around. Not only would he be doing better but he could help the refugees become more acclimated to their surroundings and could bring the town out of its slump.

Unfortunately, Troy has problems with Neil’s grandfather and Club President Bull (John Howard) and with a ‘star’ player of the club named Carpet Burn (Angus McLaren) who don’t like the idea of the refugees becoming part of the team. The comedy is wonderful and the storyline is excellent. IndiePix brings this gem to DVD on January 28th, 2020. The quality of the DVD is fantastic and the sights and sounds are superb. This will be an excellent addition to that personal library and you will watch it over and over.

'Moving Parts' DVD Review

The United Nations reports that when it comes to human trafficking 71% are usually women and young girls. The U N also reports that profits from human trafficking earns around $150 billion a year. These figures are shameful and it needs to be stopped.

Our story is about a young Chinese National Zhenzhen (Valerie Tian) who after her father passed hires a smuggler to take her out of country. Her destination is the Port of Spain, the capital of Trinidad and Tobago. You see her brother Wei works construction in the area. Wei is able to get her job working at a restaurant but it’s very menial. Unfortunately, the smuggler wants more money and Zhenzhen is forced into a very compromising situation. A woman by the name of Evelyn (Kandyse McClure) steps one to help sort of. Evelyn runs an art gallery but leaves little to the imagination if get my drift. You must understand Zhenzhen was working in the dark rooms above the restaurant where men would have their way with the young girl. So in essence what’s really the difference.
This movie blends much together about right and wrong. It shows us what is taking place possibly right next door to where we live in every country on this planet. When all is said and done it can rip your heart right out of your body.

Director Emilie Upczak does a wonderful job with this film and as it is her first feature film congratulations all around. She has done a beautiful job. IndiePix Films rings this wonderful film to DVD on January 21st, 2020. The quality of the DVD is fantastic and the sights and sounds are superb. This will be a wonderful addition to your personal library. It would also be a great gift to that special someone. So don’t waste any time and pick this one up as soon as you can.

'Judy' Blu-Ray Review

Judy Garland (RenĂ©e Zellweger) is a story of a talent seen from beginning to stormy end. Judy Garland rose in front of the world when she starred in 'The Wizard of Oz' and sung the classic "Over  the Rainbow" to being broke and desperate. The story has her embarking on a comeback attempt by going to London and starring at The Talk of the Town. Garland has trouble with the management, she talks with friends and fans about her life and begins a romance with soon to be 5th husband Mickey Deans. She has left her children back in America with their father Sydney(Rufus Sewell). Garland all the while in London is suffering from severe physical decline especially in her back and extreme anxiety.

Judy Garland has been called the World’s Greatest Entertainer but she could also be called the World’s Greatest Tragedy. She died at the young age of 47 but she lived a lifetime in that short time.
Zellweger does her best to fill the shoes that are still large to fill. She does a good job and makes the film very entertaining but let’s face it nobody can be Judy except Judy.

Director Rupert Goold does a wonderful job just as Tom Edge does a fine job in writing this story of Judy Garland. The classic songs like “ For Once in my Life”, “ Come Rain or Come Shine” are a joy to watch, but “ Over the Rainbow” still brings tears to our eyes.

Lionsgate brings this wonderful film to Blu-Ray on December 24th, 2019. The quality of the Blu-Ray is fantastic and the sights and sounds are superb. Zellweger gives us a possible Oscar performance and it always a joy to see Judy Garland. This is a wonderful addition to that personal library and it is always a great gift for that special person. Enjoy.
