'Pixelia' DVD Review

Kumar (Sanal Aman) had been working in Kochi as a young corporate executive. He turned 30 and began to think that their has to be more to life than being a suit. So he took a job as an Uber driver and began to live his dream as an artist. His first work was a graphic novel he titled Pixelia. One day a transgender woman named Mandakini (Gowri Savithri) jumped into his cab and Kumar didn’t know what hit him. The two hit it off almost immediately. They would spend the rest of the day together discussing each other’s life. Kumar would talk about his novel. Mandakini would open up to Kumar about her desire to adopt a child. Kumar would come to realize that he was queer and that it didn’t bother him.  The two would come to realize that it would not be easy living together in a relationship that for an Indian couple is not of the norm.

India is not one of the country’s who has a large queer lifestyle and to have a couple where one is a transgender  is not of the norm.  The story is of love between two consenting adults and all the extra baggage should mean nothing at all. If only that was true. We live in a judge mental society and sometimes it’s tough just trying to get by  day-by day.

IndiePix Films brings this alternative love story to DVD on August 27th, 2019. The quality of the DVD is excellent and the sights and sounds are exquisite. The movie was made on what some would call a shoestring budget. Writer-Director Ratheesh Ravindran and 'Pixelia' would be his debut film. This will be an excellent addition to your personal library and you will enjoy it over and over.
